Graduate architects Amy Seo and Shahar Cohen met while undertaking the Masters of Architecture Program at the University of Technology in Sydney. The pair founded Second Edition while completing a research thesis with Guillermo Fernández-Abascal, tackling the question: What is the feasibility of a deconstruction and reuse network in the context of Sydney?
Second Edition has evolved into an active practice that works alongside architects, builders and fabricators to deliver projects that are less wasteful. Through collaboration and knowledge sharing, Amy and Shahar explore new ways of working with materials that would otherwise end up in landfill. Advocating for deconstruction as an alternative to demolition, Amy and Shahar’s practice facilitates a more resource-efficient approach to construction and design.
