Stephen came to Sydney to work as an industrial designer in 1999. He volunteered at his local church making displays and furniture to help out and after word got out, this became a full-time business.
Stephen and Elizabeth met at church and got married. Stephen began making stainless steel church lecterns in the living rooms and backyards of their various small rental houses. To Stephen and Elizabeth's relief, their business, Procson, now has a small factory in Kingsgrove, New South Wales.
Most of Procson's lecterns are exported to churches in the USA. Selling directly to churches allows them to continue to manufacture in Sydney, with the benefit of no wholesaler margins.
