Nicholas Dalton is a registered architect and the founding director of Tāmaki Makaurau Office Architecture Limited, better known as TOA Architects, located in Auckland’s downtown Britomart.
Born and raised in Mamaku, a small village on the outskirts of Rotorua, a region well known for its geothermal activity, scenic lakes and rivers and strong Māori traditions, Nicholas grew up in a community where harnessing natural energy and working harmoniously with the environment came naturally – key influences in the work Nicholas and the team at TOA aspires to produce for their clients.
Nicholas began his career in architecture at an early age, assisting his father, a draughtsman, while still in high school. He attended Victoria University for two years before transferring to Auckland University, where he completed his Bachelor of Architecture with First Class Honours. In 2003, he received the national award for design student of the year for his project Nga Puna Ora, in Bastion Point, Auckland.
