Mark Loughnan is the principal, board director and head of design at Hassell. He plays a pivotal role, overseeing Hassell’s design quality worldwide and setting its direction as a global practice.
An internationally recognized architect with a focus on public and civic architecture, Mark has contributed to city-shaping projects throughout Australia, the US, Europe and Asia. His diverse portfolio includes the WA Museum Boola Bardip, Geelong Arts Centre, The University of Melbourne Life Sciences Building, Melbourne Metro Winning Bid and Medibank Place, Melbourne.
“Great buildings start with a great conversation – with the client, with users, with the community. Together, we can uncover what really matters and define our ambitions for the project,” says Mark.
Before joining Hassell, Mark worked on world-renowned projects, such as the M.H. de Young Memorial Museum in San Francisco and the Tai Kwun Centre for Heritage and Arts in Hong Kong, while at international practice Herzog and de Meuron.
