Liz Walsh is a co-founding director of the award-winning emerging practice So. Architecture based in nipluna/ Hobart. In her current role, as well as in her previous position as design principal at Cumulus Studio, Liz brings passion, rigour and fun to the design process. As a strong advocate for design research and conceptual thinking, Liz is committed to nurturing a practice underpinned by inquiry, collaboration and critique. Liz has creatively contributed to both public and private sector projects and has worked across a breadth of typologies with demonstrated expertise in tourism, early education and residential architecture. Liz holds a particular interest in developing adaptive reuse as a tool to re-form and re-position our ‘heritage’ places to support ongoing use and sustained cultural relevance.
Liz is a mother and a champion for flexible, effective and productive modes and models of part-time practice, with the intention of guiding the profession towards a balanced, inclusive and sustainable future.
