Julie Stout is an architect, urbanist, and activist who for the last 20 years has campaigned for a better Auckland through urban design. Her architectural career with partner David Mitchell, as Mitchell Stout Architects (now Mitchell Stout Dodd Architects), produced award-winning residential and public buildings. Together they curated New Zealand’s inaugural exhibition at the 2014 Venice Biennale of Architecture on the interaction between Pacific and European architecture titled “Last, Loneliest, Loveliest.” She is currently a Professional Teaching Fellow at the University of Auckland and was recently made a Distinguished Fellow of the NZIA.
