Fan Beilei is the principal of Shanghai-based practice genarchitects, which she co-founded in 2013. genarchitects engages in comprehensive urban and architectural design work, published in academic journals as well as in books released by Thames and Hudson Press and Birkhäuser.
Beilei’s work has been honoured and exhibited widely, including at the Iconic Awards (2022), DFA Awards (2022), WA Achievement Award (2016), Venice Architecture Biennale (2021), Inaugural Sino-Europe Invitational Architectural Exhibition (2020) and Contemporary Chinese Architecture Exhibition at Harvard GSD (2016).
A visiting lecturer at Tongji University since 2018, Beilel has served as a guest critic at Tianjin University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. She has been invited to attend academic symposiums and give speeches at universities and institutions including Harvard University, the University of Hong Kong, Southeast University, and PSA Shanghai.
Beilei is a first-class registered architect (PRC) and a RIBA chartered member. She received a Master of Architecture and a Bachelor of Architecture from Tongji University and a Master of Urban Design from Technische Universität Berlin.
