Amanda Bell is principal of the Women’s College within the University of Sydney. The college was founded in 1892 and is the oldest university women’s college in Australasia. Prior to leading the Women’s College, Amanda was principal of Brisbane Girls Grammar School.

Amanda’s professional expertise developed from wide experience in teaching, management and leadership roles across Australia in education and the visual arts. In 2017 Amanda was awarded a Member in the Order of Australia (AM) for her significant service to education, particularly to young women as a leader and academic, and to the visual arts. Amanda is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and an Honorary Lecturer in Education at the University of Sydney.

Her board positions include Chairing the Advisory Board for the International Centre for Youth Futures at the University of Technology, Sydney, and Governor of the Queenwood School for Girls. She is also a director of Art Exhibitions Australia and is a past deputy chair of the Queensland Art Gallery and GoMA.
